During Operation Hamantaschen, the annual family-baking event at the Simon Family JCC, 20 pounds of flour and 54 eggs went into the creation of 800 triangular-shaped Hamantaschen cookies that are traditionally eaten during the Jewish holiday of Purim. This year for the first time, every morsel of the cookie dough was utilized, with twice as many participants, more than 100 people spanning three generations, showing up to help bake.

With only a few consumed along the way, most of the cookies were packed up with decorated boxes and cards of thanks and shipped to Jewish troops overseas, to Fort Bragg in North Carolina, to United States Air Force Academy in Colorado, and for local Jewish Family Service clients.
