Virginia Beach – Lynn Augusta Goodman Zoll, EdD, age 81, passed peacefully on July 15, 2026, in her home in Virginia Beach, Va.

Born in Norfolk, Lynn (Gigi to her high school and college friends) grew up in Virginia Beach.

After graduating from the Country Day School for Girls (since merged into Norfolk Academy) she attended Connecticut College for Women in New London, Conn. After graduation, Lynn settled in Cambridge, Mass. where she worked for Harvard University at Dunster House. Lynn then attended the Harvard School of Education where she graduated with an EdD. Becoming licensed as a clinical psychologist in Massachusetts, Lynn practiced in Cambridge before moving to Virginia Beach where she continued her practice as a clinical psychologist for more than 20 years.

Known as a loving, caring, and generous friend, Lynn was passionate about family, her pet dogs, friends, food – though you wouldn’t know looking at her – and exercise. She loved having a garden and butterflies, planting butterfly-friendly plants. Lynn was popular with her street neighbors – one neighbor erecting stone sculptures in her garden.

Lynn was devoted to her daughter, Allison, and stayed close with her. Lynn’s house was full of Allison’s artwork. Lynn was also a devoted daughter to her parents, Robert and Augusta Goodman. After Lynn’s mother had a stroke, Lynn visited her mother almost every day until Augusta’s death.

Lynn is survived by her brothers, Robert (Martha) and David (Marian) Goodman, her sister Beverly Goodman, and many cousins, nieces, and nephews she loved dearly.

A memorial service was held at Ohef Sholom Temple in Norfolk.

Donations requested to the Virginia Beach SPCA.
