Norfolk —Shirlee Jelaza Cohen, a life long resident of Norfok, Va. passed away in Boca Raton, Fla. on Thursday, Nov. 28 at the age of 91.
She was born in Norfolk on May 2, 1922 to the late Samuel and Ida Jelaza. She was the beloved and cherished wife of the late Bernard Cohen.
She is survived by her three children Sandra Fraim (Ed), Joel Cohen (Suzanne) and Judy Gershman (Richard) . Loving grandchildren Marc, Stacey, and Barry Berman, Cameron (Mia) and Christopher Cohen and Whitney Wortman. Great grandsons Andrew and Jake Cohen. She was the fond sister of the late Jack Jason.
Shirlee graduated from Maury High School in 1939, spent her freshman year at University of Southern California and went on to Temple University in Philadelphia. She will always be remembered for her grace, style, and charm.
Funeral services were held in Boca Raton, Fla. Remembrances to either the Alzheimer’s Association or Hospice by the Sea in Boca Raton.
