VIRGINIA BEACH – Born December 18, 1940, in Brooklyn, New York, Bob was a fun-loving man who brought happiness to all those fortunate enough to have contact with him. Sadly, Bob passed away peacefully on May 3, 2025.

Bob first caught sight of Margie Lewis at the Pharmahop, a dance sponsored by his alma mater, Brooklyn College of Pharmacy. The romance developed over time, like fine wine, and they were married in 1962.

Bob earned a commission in the US Public Health Service in 1962 and retired in 1982 with the rank of Captain. During those 20 years, the family lived in Eagle Butte, S.D., Staten Island, N.Y., Philadelphia, Puerto Rico, Washington DC, Galveston, Texas, and finally Norfolk where he was chief pharmacist at the old USPHS hospital on Hampton Blvd.

Upon retirement from the USPHS, he worked for several different chain drug stores until his final retirement in 2012. In retirement, Bob enjoyed cooking (his own creative recipes), yard work, tending to his eBay account, and great meals with the family.

Bob was blessed with two wonderful sons, David (Lynnda) and Ira (Amy) and four super wonderful grandchildren, Zachary, Hannah, Benjamin (Elizabeth) and Kinsey, and super super great-grandchildren, Jackson and Genevieve. Bob is survived by Margie, his wife – married over 62 years – his sister Fran Cohen, and several nieces and nephews.

Bob was a member of Ohef Sholom Temple. Memorial donations may be made to Ohef Sholom Temple or the charity of the donor’s choice. Services were graveside at Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, Norfolk.
