Virginia Beach– Harriet Robins Goodove, age 83, passed away on January 5, 2025.

Raised in the close-knit Ghent community, Harriet graduated from Maury High School before attending the University of Georgia, where she earned not only her degree, but also met her lifelong partner, Edward “Eddie” Goodove. Harriet and Eddie shared more than 60 years of marriage, each moment marked by love, devotion to family, beach days, adventure, and travel. Over the course of her life, Harriet visited every continent, always accompanied by a family member or dear friend.

Deeply devoted to her family, Harriet raised three sons while beginning her career as a teacher and later transitioning to real estate, a profession in which she excelled for more than 50 years. Known for her fair, fierce, and ethical representation, Harriet helped countless families, with many clients becoming lifelong and cherished friends.

Though life presented its share of challenges, Harriet remained the consummate matriarch—leading her family with grit and grace, modeling resilience, and demonstrating an unwavering ability to rise after adversity. She was the glue that held her family together, faithfully hosting Sunday family dinners for more than 30 years. What began at her parents’ table grew to include her sons, daughters-in-law, and five grandchildren, creating a treasured tradition that defined family life.

Harriet possessed a vibrant personality and was a fantastic dancer. Often underestimated by younger opponents, she was also an exceptional lifelong tennis player, known for her competitive spirit and exquisite shot placement.

Simply stated, Harriet was “a force.”

Harriet will be deeply missed by her husband, Eddie; her sons, Michael (Michelle) and Scott (Amy); her grandchildren, Gabi (Hugo), Skylar, Drew, and Ella; and her sister, Mickey Held (Stuart). She was preceded in death by her son, Jeffrey; her grandson, Grayson; and her parents, Connie and Robbie Robins.

A funeral service was held at Ohef Sholom Temple, followed by a graveside service at Forest Lawn Cemetery with Rabbi Rosalin Mandelberg and Cantor Jennifer Rueben officiating.
