Enthusiasts of the Jewish Art Education classes offered by the Konikoff Center for Learning at the United Jewish Federation of Tidewater and other members of the Simon Family JCC, joined Clay Barr for a private tour of The Guiding Hand: The Barr Foundation Collection of Torah Pointers exhibit at the Chrysler Museum of Art on June 10.
To create the collection, Barr has purchased historical yads and commissioned modern yads made from unique materials by present-day artists—some of whom have never even seen a yad before speaking with her.
Spaces for the tour were limited so that participants could enjoy an up-close look at the beautiful works of art while Barr shared the stories of how she acquired each piece for the collection.
The exhibit will be on display until August 14. To join a future tour with Clay Barr, contact Sierra Lautman, director of Jewish Innovation at slautman@ujft.org or 757-965-6107 for more information.
